Certain Adsense Websites are Doomed for Failure

Posted by Craig  Published in Adsense, Moneymaking

Numerous self-proclaimed “Internet millionares” have written ebooks that promise to teach you their so-called “moneymaking formula” to build your own fortune and fame.  But ask yourself one simple question, “How many people do you know in real-life who claim they made a forture simply following an Internet moneymaking guru’s secret money plan?”

I’m certain your answer to that question is “none.”  That’s because most people don’t write about secret moneymaking schemes and plans until they’re no longer making money.  Sure, they’ll show you screenprints of thier Google checks, their bank accounts, their Google Adsense statement, etc., and a zillion testimonials on how well the plan worked for other buyers of their moneymaking ebook — but interestingly, the checks and statements are always a year or more older than the current date.   And this is because in the world of Adsense, something fundamentally has changed that limits the amount of income one can make from websites that cover many high money paying topics.   This is what I want to share with you today.

So just what has changed and when did it occur?  To answer that question you first need to know a little background information.  The first thing you need to know is that  to maximize income with Google Adsense sites and earn thousands of dollars per month like these self-professed Adsense millionaires you would have to copy their true moneymaking formula, the one they are not likely willing to share with you.  The key ingredients of that moneymaking Adsense formula are provided below:

  • You will need many websites.  Most all Adsense millionaires made their money with hundreds of websites, not one, two or tens of websites.
  • Each website needs hundreds or thousands of pages of content.
  • Most built their Adsense fortune with boring and useless content that was of no use to the site visitor.  This left the site visitor with 4 choices upon arrival at a publishers site — namely, hit the browser exit button, hit the browser “back” button, type in another url or click on an ad.  Given those four choices, many people, over 20 percent, would click on an ad if there was nothing of substance to read.
  • Most Adsense millionaires not only were SEO guru’s of sorts and knew a lot about how to optimize a webpage for high search engine ranking, but also optimized sites to focus on high-paying keywords.

So how did these guys accomplish all the items listed above?  The answer is they built these sites “on the fly” with special site builders they either had programmed or programmed themselves.  And if they’re still selling their site builder the facts they’re not willing to share with you are: (1) These site builders build “spam page” websites that Google can easily catch and ban these days, (2) you’ll be ranked so far down in the SERPs that you won’t get any traffic, and (3) advertisers detest these sites and will request their ads not be displayed on your sites.

In other words, there was once a golden time in the early years of Adsense when these guys could pull off such unscrupuloous practices, but those days are long gone.  If you want high seach engine rankings you’ll need to do it with good original content and you’ll have to wait the test of time for a load of incoming links that will prove you’ve got a great site.  This will drive traffic like nothing crazy, but you’ll need to be patient and continue writing fresh content.  Your click through rate on original content will average been 1.5% and 4.0% — depending on your ad placement.

Don’t waste time building Adsense websites on high paying keywords like insurance, debt consolidation, credit repair or mesothelioma cancer.  Don’t take my word, just search for these terms on Google and you’ll see there are no entrepreneur amateur sites that rank high in the search engines.  Only brand name companies that Google knows for sure caters to these markets will be listed.  If you can’t rank on the first page or two of search results you will not get much traffic.  The botton line is to go for smaller market niches and look for more income sources than just Adsense.  There are many ways to monetize a website — don’t rely on just one source.

Ingredient in Shrimp Shells Could Cure Acne

Posted by Craig  Published in Health, Medicine

Acne is probably the single-most dreaded skin ailment of teenagers.  It is caused by several factors, most prominently by over-production of skin oil, plugging of skin pores and bacterial infection.

If you’ve ever suffered with acne and purchased any one of the numerous over-the-counter products designed to fight or diminish acne, you probably quickly came to the realization that most of these products are over-hyped and have little effect whatsoever on reducing or curing acne.  In fact, you’re more likely to get the side effects of skin scale and dry skin than you are a cure for acne.

But good news for acne sufferers may be on the horizon.  Recent news reports claim dermatologists from UCLA (i.e., University of California – Los Angeles) have made a remarkable discovery involving chitosan, which is a polysaccaride that is found in crustacean shells.  Crustaceans like shrimp and crabs have shells that are high in chitosan content.

These doctors have discovered, almost remarkably, that chitosan has the ability to kill bacteria.  The discovery was not what they were actually looking for or investigating.  Instead, they were analyzing the ability for chitosan use as a carrier for antibiotics when they discovered it kills bacteria by itself, in short, no need for antibiotics to kill the bacteria associated with acne.  Thus, using a form of biodegradable nanoparticles of chitosan as a carrier for antioxidants and collagen, they can produce creams used for treatment of acne.  Now, if they can only find a way to mask that undesirable smell of shrimp teens will be smearing on their faces.  Just kidding of course :o).

The Repo Man Goes High Tech

Posted by Craig  Published in Autos, Credit & Finance, Current Events, Hi-Tech

No pay, no start! That’s the price for car owners with bad credit that purchase a vehicle from an auto dealer using an electronic device called the Payteck Smart Box . The Smart Box is manufactured and sold by Pay Technologies LLC of Cleveland, OH and sales for $200.

Used car dealers specializing in sales to car buyers with bad credit, simply installs one of these devices underneath the dashboard. In order to start the car you enter a 5-digit code for each pay period. The pay period is entered into the unit by the salesman after a sale is made. Some of these type of bad credit used car lots might enforce loans payable every 2 weeks, for example. As you approach the end of your payment period, green lights on the unit start blinking red and a chirping sound also occurs. They have a 4-day grace period to make their car payment. If they don’t make the payment the unit will not allow the car to start. If they do make the payment they are issued a new 5-digit code that they punch into the keypad of the Payteck so the car will continue starting.

Use of this unit has been very successful. In this niche of the used car industry, repos can run as high as 50% — meaning ½ of the cars sold are typically repossessed. One dealer using this device in Virginia (Patriot Sales) has 500 of the units and claims to have lowered his repos from 45% to 15%.

Finding the Optimum Combination of Features, Costs and Quality in a Web Host

Posted by Craig  Published in Web Hosting, e-Commerce

I run a lot of websites and currently use four different web hosting companies — Host Gator, BlueHost.com, Web Hosting Pad and Liquid Web.  I’ve pretty much settled on using these 4 after ten years of experiencing good and bad web hosting companies and concluded that these 4 provided the right combination of features, quality of service and price.

One might ask why I choose to use 4 hosting companies.  Without divulging a lot of secrets, let me just say that when you run a lot of websites it pays to diversify.  Linking from one website you own on a reseller account to another website you run on the same server is picked up very easily by search engine algorithms these days and you can actually hurt yourself permanently in Google’s index by doing so.  Thus, it pays to have multiple hosting accounts.

When I need a dedicated server account, I always pick the boys at Host Gator and Liquid Web.  When I need a reseller account I do the same.  When I want to host multiple domain names at a low costs and don’t mind wait a few hours for service to one day max, I always use BlueHost.com or Web Hosting Pad.  Without question, if you’re looking for sheer bang for the buck you will not and cannot beat the web hosting package of Web Hosting Pad

If you’re looking for a good reseller account and want your web host to respond to service calls immediately, then I would recommend Host Gator.  If you need more disc space and more bandwidth than you get at Host Gator, then without question a dedicated server or a less expensive managed VPS server account at Liquid Web is the way to go.  But that one can cost you upwards of $60 per month or more.  But I can personally vouch that from being a web hosting customer of Liquid Web for several years, their service department, like that of Host Gator, is top-notch - always responding very quickly and professional to my service needs.  They’ve also been in business for 10 years, which is very important.

Without confusing you, if you want a lot of disc space, the most bandwidth you’ll get from anyone, and don’t mind waiting several hours for service, you cannot and will not be able to beat the web hosting package offer of Web Hosting Pad, which can run as little as $4.95 per month on a 2-year deal, but includes (get a load of this) 1,700 gigabytes of storage (you’ll never ever use this much) and 17,000 gigabytes of bandwidth.  This is unheard of in the hosting world.

My final recommendation is as follows:

  • If you’re an Internet entrepreneur looking to keep costs low and build a thriving work at home business, and can afford to wait a few hours for service, go with Web Hosting Pad.  You’ll never need anything more than this one account.
  • If you require a reseller account or run a small business, I recommend going with Host Gator.  They have an excellent price for reseller accounts and provide quick service.  I’ve been using them for 5 or 6 years now and they’ve never let me down once.
  • If you’re a corporation or partnership, or run a small, medium or large business and looking for either managed dedicated server or VPS server, you can’t beat the price, features and quality of service you’ll get with LiquidWeb.com

Pizza.com Domain Name Auction Shoots to $2.5 Million Dollars

Posted by Craig  Published in Domain Names, News

I stay pretty close to what’s going on the domain name industry these days.  The current 7-day domain name auction of Pizza.com on Sedo is attracting a lot of interest.  I’ve been writing about it a lot on my Dot Com Domain Names blog, and started watching it when the sales price rose to $403,500 during the first day of the auction.  With 3 days and 15 hours to go, the sales price has skyrocketed to $2,505,000 with 63 total bids.

Sedo is also the action vendor of choice for the owners of Attorney.org and Autos.net.  These two domains are currently sitting at $60,000 and $49,999, respectively, with each having a total of 6 bids.  Attorney.org has just over 2 days left on its auction and Auto.net still has 3 days and 15 hours, the same as Pizza.com.

USDA Grants Open Range Communications $257 Million Loan to Bring Broadband to Rural Communities

Posted by Craig  Published in Broadband & Wireless, Current Events, News

Here’s a news item that appears a bit fishy, though great news for rural America.  It should be filed under “your tax dollars at questionable work.”  I’ve just learned that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has agreed to loan a startup company called Open Range Communications $257 million dollars to bring broadband to 518 rural communities.

I grew up in rural America, but moved to Houston, our fourth largest city, 24 years ago.  When I visit my parents in rural Louisiana I am reminded just how slow dialup Internet connections really is these days because websites are being designed for broadband access, not dialup access.  Just loading up a page on Godaddy with an average connection speed at their house of 42 to 50 K mbs takes minutes, not seconds.  I gave up surfing the web from my parents home 3 years ago.  So, I can really appreciate our government taking an interest in bringing broadband to rural communities.  Notice, I didn’t say I agree with it or think it will be a moneymaker, I just said I can appreciate it.

So why I’m I knocking or questioning the USDA’s action.  Take a look at Open Range’s website and you’ll know first hand.  Just visit http://www.openrangecomm.com/ for a second and you’ll see it’s nothing more than a one-page place holder with an email address on it.  The email address is for a PR guy with a small company called Percepture.com.   Is this a wise investment of our tax dollars?  Gee, I wish I could come up with and idea and a placeholder domain and get $257 million dedicated to my next cause.

Check it out and tell me what you think.
