Finding the Optimum Combination of Features, Costs and Quality in a Web Host

I run a lot of websites and currently use four different web hosting companies — Host Gator, BlueHost.com, Web Hosting Pad and Liquid Web.  I’ve pretty much settled on using these 4 after ten years of experiencing good and bad web hosting companies and concluded that these 4 provided the right combination of features, quality of service and price.

One might ask why I choose to use 4 hosting companies.  Without divulging a lot of secrets, let me just say that when you run a lot of websites it pays to diversify.  Linking from one website you own on a reseller account to another website you run on the same server is picked up very easily by search engine algorithms these days and you can actually hurt yourself permanently in Google’s index by doing so.  Thus, it pays to have multiple hosting accounts.

When I need a dedicated server account, I always pick the boys at Host Gator and Liquid Web.  When I need a reseller account I do the same.  When I want to host multiple domain names at a low costs and don’t mind wait a few hours for service to one day max, I always use BlueHost.com or Web Hosting Pad.  Without question, if you’re looking for sheer bang for the buck you will not and cannot beat the web hosting package of Web Hosting Pad

If you’re looking for a good reseller account and want your web host to respond to service calls immediately, then I would recommend Host Gator.  If you need more disc space and more bandwidth than you get at Host Gator, then without question a dedicated server or a less expensive managed VPS server account at Liquid Web is the way to go.  But that one can cost you upwards of $60 per month or more.  But I can personally vouch that from being a web hosting customer of Liquid Web for several years, their service department, like that of Host Gator, is top-notch - always responding very quickly and professional to my service needs.  They’ve also been in business for 10 years, which is very important.

Without confusing you, if you want a lot of disc space, the most bandwidth you’ll get from anyone, and don’t mind waiting several hours for service, you cannot and will not be able to beat the web hosting package offer of Web Hosting Pad, which can run as little as $4.95 per month on a 2-year deal, but includes (get a load of this) 1,700 gigabytes of storage (you’ll never ever use this much) and 17,000 gigabytes of bandwidth.  This is unheard of in the hosting world.

My final recommendation is as follows:

  • If you’re an Internet entrepreneur looking to keep costs low and build a thriving work at home business, and can afford to wait a few hours for service, go with Web Hosting Pad.  You’ll never need anything more than this one account.
  • If you require a reseller account or run a small business, I recommend going with Host Gator.  They have an excellent price for reseller accounts and provide quick service.  I’ve been using them for 5 or 6 years now and they’ve never let me down once.
  • If you’re a corporation or partnership, or run a small, medium or large business and looking for either managed dedicated server or VPS server, you can’t beat the price, features and quality of service you’ll get with LiquidWeb.com
